The Patrick Mavros Egg for the Faberge Big Egg Hunt in London

Patrick Mavros contributed a beautiful egg to what promises to be the largest egg hunt ever, a plan hatched by Elephant Family and Action for Children.

Envisioned as record-breaking egg hunt across Central London to raise money for the two respective organizations, the eggs are hidden from now until Easter.

Eggs are envisioned by these charities as representing a fresh start and hope for the future. But these eggs are unlike any you’ve seen before. Jointly presented by Fabergé, there are over 200 beautifully painted and decorated eggs in all sizes and colors.

Patrick Mavros is among the artists asked for their unique interpretation of a decorated egg.

“If a child is asked to name all the types of animals they know, their minds race in excited anticipation. If an adult is asked the same question, their brain reaches far and wide hoping that one or even two of the species will not have disappeared before they get to the end of their list,” Patrick Mavros said. “This egg is to make children happy and to make adults think.”

All the eggs are for sale and will be auctioned at a live event by Sotheby’s and a grand online auction. Check out Patrick Mavros’ egg here.

Guests delighted upon arrival at passing through the magnificent animal gate I designed for the entrance. Island ladies modeled the Mauritius Collection jewellery in sterling silver, gold and pearls, giving a first opportunity for Mauritians to see the collection.

Our first jewellery catalogue, over 60 pages

For the first time in our history, Patrick Mavros will publish a jewellery catalogue featuring new and classic designs.

With over 60 full-color pages, the catalogue has been a collaborative effort among the Mavros brothers, Alexander, Forbes, Patrick Jr., and Benjamin. Family photos in Africa accompany photos of collections spread across multiple pages. It feels like a luxury magazine to hold it in your hands.

We can’t wait for you to see the beautiful pages, printed with expert care by our friends at Linney, another family business near London. This, like all Mavros creations, is sure to be a collector’s item.

The concept store will be more than a showcase for Patrick Mavros creations. Our customers interested in the creative process will be sincerely welcomed to tour the design studio and workshop. Visitors will experience the amazing alchemy of passion and creativity behind the work of Patrick Mavros.

Aesthetically, The Patrick Mavros Mauritius Atelier remains loyal to our iconic London Flagship store and Zimbabwe Studio. However, with the creation of the Mauritius store, it has been impossible not to acknowledge this inspirational island environment.

The store, still under construction and directed by Forbes Mavros, will embody the eclectic fabric of this unique island nation.

From finely wrought gates to fabulous ceramic chandeliers, tribute is paid to the many rare and endemic creatures of the island. Swahili tiles and Shona furniture express an ancient connection to our mother continent. Wooden beams and cabinets lit by 1930’s workshop lamps reflect the French heritage in Mauritius.

From the inception of our involvement in Mauritius, our vision has been long-term. In embracing our new island home, a new and important part of the Patrick Mavros story is being written.

Forbes & Patrick Mavros at the launch party for the New Mauritius Collection in London on 5 July 2011

Forbes Mavros hosted the launch party of his new Mauritius Collection at the Patrick Mavros flagship store in London.

Forbes opened a Patrick Mavros workshop in Mauritius five years ago and – inspired by the unique beauty of the island, its beaches and marine life – he began to design the classic pieces that culminated in this collection. It was the first opportunity for many in London to view what has been keeping the second Mavros son so busy in Mauritius!

Nearly 200 people attended the viewing. The Mauritian flavour of the launch evening was spiced up by rum cocktails sponsored by Mauritian distillery Chamarelle.  The Chamarelle Company distills this delicious drink from sugar cane cut from the lush cane fields that carpet the island’s interior.

Downstairs in the store, another tropical treat greeted guests. Catja Mavros, in her inimitable style, had arranged a spectacular ice cream bar, serving a range of ice creams and cones, loaded with strawberries, chocolate flakes and tiny marshmallows – a perfect summertime indulgence for all.

Forbes’ debut collection marks a new tone in the Patrick Mavros name. These pieces show an expression of a well received, delicate and feminine design style.

Druckenmiller will host Patrick Mavros in June, featuring a careful selection of new and classic signature pieces.

Druckenmiller’s gallery has become a favorite of those seeking the unusual, beautiful gift.

Forbes Mavros and jewellery model at MC Bank's grand opening in Mauritius

When the Mauritius Commercial Bank planned the launch of its Eben Concept Branch, its directors sought to bring a sophisticated drama and elegance to the event. In an effort to bridge business and art, the bank ask me to show monetary materials in a different light, as a form of creative expression. They commissioned me to design an exclusive range of jewellery using coins and credit cards.

Representing Patrick Mavros, I was pleased to collaborate with the bank. It is important for such varied companies to find common ground. Being able to deliver interest through creative dialogue is crucial in business today.

What can you do that sets you apart? I helped the bank find the answer to that question in a unique way.

The launch event happened in March in Eben, also known as Cyber City, the heart of the IT and financial industries of Mauritius. The jewellery was shown by two Mauritian models in a type of stage performance exposé. The audience responded with enthusiasm, as the performance brought a notable flair to the otherwise sedate goings on.

As executive Chairman of Cartier UK, Mr. Bamberger has no shortage of reasons to dress up – handing over polo trophies with HRH Prince Charles being an occasional duty. But the ‘legendary London man about town’ does have reason to dress down on occasion. And that’s when the crocodile skin belt and crocodile buckle comes out.

“It is quite casual, so I wear it with jeans,” he told the Financial Times’ How to Spend It magazine.

Patrick Mavros himself wears the croc buckle with a favorite pair of dark brown khakis, or you could dress up a pair of black or gray slacks with the sterling silver collectible piece.
